Are WooCommerce Coupons Case Sensitive?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:44 pm

WooCommerce is a popular eCommerce platform that allows businesses to sell online. A key feature of the platform is the ability to create coupons for discounts. But are these coupons case sensitive

The answer is yes and no. It depends on how the coupon is set up.

PRO TIP: Coupons in WooCommerce are case sensitive. This means that if a customer enters a coupon code with the wrong case, the coupon will not be applied.

If the coupon is set to be case sensitive, then the code must be entered exactly as it appears. This means that letters must be entered in the correct case. For example, if the code is “SALE10”, then “sale10” will not work.

If the coupon is not set to be case sensitive, then the code can be entered in any case. So “SALE10” or “sale10” would both work.

To change the setting for a coupon, go to the WooCommerce Coupons page and edit the coupon. In the “Usage Restrictions” section, there is an option to make the coupon case sensitive. By default, this option is not selected, so coupons are not case sensitive.
