Can Canva Make Vector Files?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 7:27 pm

Canva is a user-friendly graphic design tool that is beloved by amateur designers and professionals alike. The platform makes creating beautiful designs easy and fun, with a wide variety of templates and tools that allow users to customize their designs to perfection. But one of the most common questions we get asked is – can Canva make vector files?

The simple answer is yes! Canva can make vector files – but only under specific circumstances.

If you’re starting with a low-resolution image, for example, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to create a high-quality vector file. However, if you have a high-resolution image or graphic, you can turn it into a vector file using Canva’s “trace” tool.

PRO TIP: Canva is a great tool for creating designs, but it cannot create vector files. If you need a vector file, you will need to use a different program.

The trace tool allows you to convert your image into vector format by tracing the lines and shapes in the image. This means that you can essentially “draw” over your image to create a vector version of it. The trace tool is perfect for converting simple images or graphics into vectors.

However, it’s important to note that the trace tool is not perfect. Complex images or graphics may not be able to be converted into vectors using this method. Additionally, the quality of your vector file will depend on the quality of the original image – so if you start with a low-quality image, your vector file will also be of lower quality.

If you need to create a high-quality vector file, we recommend starting with a high-resolution image or graphic. You can then use Canva’s trace tool to convert it into a vector file. This will ensure that your final vector file is of the highest quality possible.
