Can Figma Animate?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 1:35 am

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, developed by Figma, Inc. It is available in a web browser, and as a desktop app for macOS and Windows. The Figma interface (built on web technologies) enables multiple users to work together on the same design file at the same time.

Figma has both free and paid plans. The free plan allows users to have three projects (private or public), with a maximum of two editors per project. The paid plan starts at $12/month/editor and allows an unlimited number of projects and editors.

PRO TIP: Figma does not have a built-in animation tool. There are some ways to animate objects in Figma, but none of them are as robust or user-friendly as dedicated animation software like Adobe After Effects or Flash. If you’re looking to create animations, you should use one of those programs instead.

Figma has a growing set of features, including:

  • The ability to comment on specific areas of a design
  • A version history, so users can see how a design has changed over time
  • A library of reusable components
  • Integrations with other tools, such as Slack
  • A growing set of plugins created by the community
