Can Figma Export to React Native?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 11:20 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, primarily aimed at UI design and prototyping. It is available as a web app, and has desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

One of the key features of Figma is its ease of use in collaborating with other designers on a project.

Figma also has an extensive library of plugins that can be used to extend its functionality. One such plugin is React-Native-Dummy, which allows Figma to export designs to React Native.

This means that designers can now create designs in Figma, and then export them as code that can be used in React Native apps.

PRO TIP: The Figma community has not yet reached a consensus on whether or not Figma can export to React Native. Some users have reported success in using Figma to export their designs to React Native code, while others have found that the process is more complicated than it should be. Until there is more clarity on this issue, we recommend that users exercise caution when attempting to export their Figma designs to React Native.

The plugin is available for free from the Figma Plugin Directory. Once installed, it can be accessed from the ‘Plugins’ menu within Figma.

To use the plugin, simply select the layers that you want to export, and then choose ‘React-Native-Dummy’ from the ‘Plugins’ menu. The code for your design will then be generated and you can copy it into your React Native app.

So if you’re looking for a way to easily design UI components in React Native, then Figma is definitely worth considering. And with the React-Native-Dummy plugin, you can now export your designs as code that can be used in your app.
