Before we dive in, it’s important to note that there are two different types of domains: primary and secondary. Your primary domain is the one that customers will use to visit your store (for example, www.mystore.com). Your secondary domain is an alias for your primary domain (for example, www.mystore-alias.

You can have multiple secondary domains, but only one primary domain. So if you want to change your primary domain, you’ll first need to set up a new secondary domain and then make the switch.

PRO TIP: If you change your shopify domain, your existing customers will no longer be able to find your store. Make sure that the “Permanent (301)” option is selected and then click on the “Save” button.
