Can I Have a Free Website With Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:33 am

There’s no such thing as a free website – unless you’re willing to put in the work yourself. Even then, you’ll still need to pay for hosting and a domain name. However, if you’re looking for an easy-to-use website builder with plenty of features, Squarespace could be a good option for you.

While Squarespace does have a free trial available, you’ll need to enter your credit card details to sign up. Once the trial period is over, you’ll be charged $12 per month (or $144 per year if you pay upfront) for the Personal plan. This gives you access to most of Squarespace’s features, including unlimited pages and galleries, a custom domain name, and 24/7 customer support.

PRO TIP: When creating a website with Squarespace, you may be tempted to choose the option for a free website. However, there are several reasons why you should avoid this option. First, a free website will have Squarespace ads on it, which can distract from your own content. Second, you’ll be limited in terms of customization options, and your website will have a much less professional look. Finally, your website’s address will include “.squarespace.com”, which can make it seem less credible. If you’re serious about creating a website, it’s best to avoid the free option and choose one of Squarespace’s paid plans.

If you’re looking for a more comprehensive website builder, the Business plan starts at $18 per month (or $216 per year if you pay upfront). This gives you everything in the Personal plan, plus additional features like eCommerce functionality and premium customer support.

So, while you can’t have a free website with Squarespace, their plans are reasonably priced and offer a lot of value for money. If you’re serious about building a website, Squarespace is definitely worth considering.
