Can I Password Protect a Collection on Shopify?

Last updated on January 13, 2023 @ 1:46 pm

Yes, you can password protect a collection on Shopify. To do this, you’ll need to create a password-protected page and then add a link to that page from your collection. When someone clicks on the link, they’ll be prompted to enter the password. If they enter the correct password, they’ll be able to view the collection. If they enter the wrong password, they’ll see an error message.

There are a few things to keep in mind when password protecting a collection:

PRO TIP: If you are planning to password protect a collection on Shopify, be aware that this is not a foolproof method of security. Your collection will still be accessible to anyone who knows the URL, and it is possible for someone to guess the password if they have access to your shop’s backend.
  • You can only password protect one collection per page. If you want to password protect multiple collections, you’ll need to create multiple pages (one for each collection).
  • The collection must be published before you can password protect it.
  • Once a collection is password protected, anyone who has the link will be able to access it (even if they don’t know the password).

If you want to keep the collection private, don’t share the link.

To password protect a collection:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Pages. Click “Add page”, and then enter a “Page title”. In the “Content” section, enter some text explaining that the page is password protected.
  2. Click “Save”. This will take you to the “Password” page.
  3. In the “Password” field, enter a password. This is the password that people will need to enter in order to view the collection. This will take you back to the “Pages” list.
  4. Find the page that you just created, and then click “Edit”. In the “Content” section, add a link to the collection that you want to password protect.
  5. (Optional) To change the text of the link, click on the link and then enter new text in the “Link text” field.
  6. (Optional) To change where the link goes, click on the link and then enter a new URL in the “Link URL” field.
