Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:08 am

As the leading website building and hosting platform, Squarespace is a popular choice for those looking to create a stunning website. But what about transferring an existing domain to Squarespace? The process is actually quite simple and only takes a few steps.

If you have an existing domain that you would like to use with Squarespace, you can transfer it to us. To do this, you will need to first unlock your domain at your current registrar.

Once unlocked, you will need to obtain an authorization code from them. Once you have the authorization code, you can begin the transfer process within your Squarespace account.

Log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Domains panel. Click “Transfer Domain” under Domain Actions.

Enter your domain name and the authorization code when prompted. Select the plan you’d like to use for your site and complete checkout.

Once your purchase is complete, we’ll send a notification to your current registrar requesting that they release the domain to us. The registrar may take up to five days to approve or deny the transfer request. If approved, the domain will be transferred to Squarespace and will appear in your Domains panel.
