Can I transfer domain to BigCommerce?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 1:55 am

When starting a business, it is important to have a domain name that represents your company. A domain name is like the company’s address in the world.

It is your unique identifier and is what people see when they search for your business.

If you are starting a business from scratch, it is recommended that you purchase a domain name. However, if you are transferring an existing business to BigCommerce, you may be able to transfer the domain name.

To transfer a domain name, you will need to contact the domain name registrar. You can find the registrar’s contact information on the domain name registration website.

Once you have contacted the registrar, you will need to provide the registrar with the following information:

1. The domain name that you are transferring

2. The name of the new business that you are starting

3. The name of the new domain name

4. The email address of the new business owner

5. The contact information for the new business owner (phone, address, email)

6. The contact information for the domain name registrar

7. The payment information for the domain name registrar

8. The payment information for the new business

9. The payment information for the new domain name

10. The confirmation information from the new business owner

Once the registrar has received this information, they will provide you with a transfer authorization form. You will need to complete this form and return it to the new business owner.

PRO TIP: If you are considering transferring your domain to BigCommerce, be aware that there are some potential risks involved. First, if you are not familiar with DNS (domain name system) settings, you could unintentionally block access to your website or email. Second, your domain registrar may charge a fee for the transfer. Finally, if you have any customizations or settings associated with your domain (such as email forwarding or subdomains), they may not carry over to BigCommerce.

The new business owner will then need to contact the domain name registrar to activate the domain name. The domain name registrar will provide the new business owner with the activation information.

Once the domain name is activated, the new business can begin using the domain name.
