Can I Use My Domain Name With Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 4:53 am

If you’ve already registered a domain name elsewhere, you can use it with your Wix website. You can either connect your domain to Wix or transfer your domain to Wix.

Connecting your domain means that it remains registered with your current registrar but points to your Wix site. Transferring your domain means that you register your domain with Wix, and your site’s DNS (domain name system) records are updated to point to your Wix site. Either way, once you connect or transfer your domain, visitors will be able to find and view your Wix site by typing your domain name into their browser’s address bar.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

If you want to use a custom domain with a free Wix site, you can connect it by upgrading to a Premium Plan. Once you upgrade, you’ll be able to add and connect your custom domain.

PRO TIP: If you have a domain name registered with another provider, you can use it with your Wix site. However, we do not recommend using Wix as your domain registrar. Wix domains are significantly more expensive than other registrars, and they do not include certain features that are standard with other providers, such as email forwarding and privacy protection.

Wix domains are free for the first year when you purchase an annual Premium Plan. After the first year, renews at the then-current annual list price for the second year and beyond.
