Can Two Products Have the Same SKU Shopify?

When it comes to product identification, a SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is key. A SKU is a code that is used to track inventory, and it is often printed on labels or barcodes. Every product in a store should have a unique SKU, so that it can be easily tracked and identified.

However, there may be times when two products need to have the same SKU. For example, if a store is selling both men’s and women’s sizes of the same shirt, they will need to use the same SKU for both products.

In this case, the store will need to use a different identifier, such as “M” for men’s shirts and “W” for women’s shirts, to differentiate between the two products.

PRO TIP: If two products have the same SKU in Shopify, then only one product will be visible in the Shopify admin. The other product will be hidden from view, and will not be available for sale.

Another example where two products may need to have the same SKU is if a store is selling the same product in different colors. In this case, the store will again need to use a different identifier, such as “R” for red shirts and “B” for blue shirts, to differentiate between the two products.

If a store needs to use the same SKU for two different products, they will need to use a different identifier to differentiate between the two products. The most common way to do this is by using letters or numbers.
