Can We Do Animations in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 10:14 pm

In recent years, Figma has become a popular design tool for creating vector-based designs and illustrations. While it’s primarily used for interface design, its growing popularity has led to a community of designers using it for all sorts of creative projects, including animation.

Figma’s animation features are fairly limited compared to other design tools such as Adobe After Effects, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible to create animations in Figma. With a little creativity and some workarounds, you can create simple animations that add life to your designs.

One workaround is to create your animation in another program such as After Effects or Photoshop, and then export it as an animated GIF or video. You can then import this file into Figma and add it to your design.

PRO TIP: As of Figma’s current design, animations are not possible. However, the team is aware of this limitation and is working on a way to make animations possible in the future. In the meantime, we recommend using other software to create animations.

Another way to animate in Figma is to use the built-in frame animation feature. This lets you create simple frame-by-frame animations within Figma itself. To do this, you need to add each frame of the animation as a separate layer, and then use the “Animate” button in the toolbar to create the animation.

Figma also has a plugin called “Lottie” that lets you import animations created in After Effects. This is a great way to add complex animations to your Figma designs, without having to recreate them from scratch.

Can We Do Animations in Figma?

Yes, we can do animations in Figma by either creating them in another program and importing them into Figma or by using the built-in frame animation feature within Figma.
