Can You Add Animation to Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 9:06 am

Animation has come a long way in recent years. With the advent of powerful tools like Adobe After Effects and Apple Motion, the ability to create complex animations has never been easier.

But what about those of us who don’t have access to those tools, or who don’t know how to use them? Fortunately, there is a solution: Figma.

Figma is a vector-based design tool that is quickly becoming the go-to tool for designers of all stripes, thanks to its ease of use and powerful features. One of those features is the ability to add animation to your designs.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Figma does not currently support animation. Attempting to add animation to a Figma file may result in unexpected behaviour and/or errors.

With Figma, you can add simple animations like fades and slides, or more complex animations like bouncing and rotating. You can even add animation to your Components, so that when you change one element, all the instances of that Component will update accordingly.

Best of all, Figma’s animation capabilities are built right into the tool, so there’s no need to learn any complicated software or take a course in animation. If you know how to use Figma, you already know how to add animation to your designs.

So if you’re looking to add some pizazz to your next project, give Figma a try. You might be surprised at just how easy it is to animate your designs.
