Can You Add Captions to Gallery Images in Squarespace?

Adding captions to gallery images in Squarespace is a great way to add some context to your photos and make them more engaging for your readers. There are a few different ways to do this, depending on how you want your captions to appear.

One option is to add captions directly to your images using the built-in image editor. To do this, simply click on the image you want to add a caption to and then click the “Edit” button. From here, you can add your caption in the “Caption” field.

Another option is to add captions using HTML. This method is a bit more advanced, but it gives you more control over how your captions appear. To do this, simply edit the HTML code for your gallery page and add the following code where you want your captions to appear:

Your Caption Here

Make sure to replace “Your Caption Here” with your actual caption text.

You can also use HTML to style your captions, such as making them bold or italicized. For example:

Your Caption Here

Your Caption Here

Just remember to close any tags that you open, such as or .

If you want even more control over how your captions look, you can use CSS (cascading style sheets). This is beyond the scope of this article, but there are plenty of resources available online if you’re interested in learning more.

Adding captions to gallery images is a great way to add some extra information and make them more engaging for your readers. With a little bit of effort, you can make your captions look just the way you want them to.

PRO TIP: Please be advised that adding captions to gallery images in Squarespace may result in the images being misaligned on the page. We recommend carefully testing this feature before implementing it on a live site.
