Can You Do a Subscription Box on Shopify?

The ability to offer a subscription service is one of the many reasons that entrepreneurs choose Shopify as their ecommerce platform. Shopify makes it easy to set up and manage a subscription service, and there are no transaction fees for subscription products. You can use Shopify’s built-in payment gateway or choose from over 100 other payment gateways.

To start selling subscriptions on Shopify, you first need to add a subscription product to your store. To do this, go to the Products page in your Shopify admin and click the Add product button. On the Add product page, enter the name and description of your subscription product, and then scroll down to the Product data section.

In the Product data section, select Subscription from the Product type drop-down menu. This will reveal the subscription-specific fields that you need to fill out, such as billing interval and trial period. Once you’ve entered all the relevant information, click Save product.

PRO TIP: Shopify is a great platform for subscription boxes, but there are a few things to be aware of before getting started. First, Shopify subscription apps typically charge a monthly fee in addition to your Shopify fees, so be sure to factor that into your budget. Second, you’ll need to make sure your shipping rates are set up correctly to avoid overcharging or undercharging your customers. Lastly, be prepared for an influx of customer service questions and issues when you first launch your subscription box – it’s always best to over-communicate with your customers so they know what to expect and can provide feedback.

Your subscription product will now appear on your shop’s Products page. When a customer adds a subscription product to their cart and goes to checkout, they’ll be asked to enter their billing information and choose a shipping method. They’ll also be asked to select a payment method—Shopify will display the payment methods that are available for subscriptions (including any applicable transaction fees).

Once the customer completes checkout, they’ll be redirected to the Thank you page, where they’ll see an order summary as well as information about when their first shipment will be sent out. The customer will also receive an order confirmation email from Shopify.

As the shop owner, you’ll receive an email notification whenever someone subscribes to one of your products. You can view all your shop’s subscriptions by going to Orders > Subscriptions in your Shopify admin. From here, you can manage individual subscriptions, cancel subscriptions, and export your subscription data into a CSV file.

Shopify makes it easy to get started with selling subscriptions, and there are no transaction fees for subscription products. If you’re looking for an ecommerce platform that can help you grow your business, Shopify is a great option.
