Can you run a Minecraft server on DigitalOcean?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 1:57 pm

Minecraft servers can be run on DigitalOcean, but there are a few caveats. First, DigitalOcean does not currently support IPv6. Second, DigitalOcean does not currently support Java. Finally, DigitalOcean does not currently support Minecraft version 1.11.2.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about running a Minecraft server on DigitalOcean, you should be aware of a few things. First, you will need to ensure that you have enough RAM and CPU to support the number of players that you want to have on your server. Second, you will need to make sure that you have a good internet connection with low latency, as players will be connecting to your server from all over the world. Finally, you will need to be aware of the cost of running a server on DigitalOcean, as it can be quite expensive.

However, these limitations can be overcome by using a virtual private server (VPS) provider that supports Minecraft. For example, Vultr supports Minecraft 1.
