Do Squarespace Sites Expire?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:58 am

When you create a website with Squarespace, you’re given a free domain for a year. After that, you have to pay for the domain name if you want to keep it.

But what happens if you don’t pay for your domain name? Does your website go away?

The short answer is no, your website will not go away if you don’t pay for your domain name. However, there are some things that will happen if you don’t renew your domain name.

PRO TIP: If you do not renew your Squarespace subscription, your website will expire and you will no longer be able to access it.

First, your website will become inaccessible. This means that anyone who tries to visit your website will see an error message instead of your website.

Second, all of the email addresses associated with your website will stop working. This means that you will no longer be able to send or receive emails using those addresses.

If you don’t renew your domain name, then your website will eventually be deleted from Squarespace’s servers. However, you will have the opportunity to renew your website before it is deleted. Once your website is deleted, it cannot be recovered.

In conclusion, if you don’t renew your Squarespace domain name, then your website will become inaccessible and you will lose the ability to use email addresses associated with your website. Your website will eventually be deleted from Squarespace’s servers, but you will have the opportunity to renew it before that happens.
