Do You Need Canva Pro to Sell Templates?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 2:54 pm

As a freelance graphic designer, I’m always on the lookout for new tools to help me streamline my workflow and get my projects done more quickly. I recently came across Canva, a free online design platform that is beloved by many for its simple and intuitive design interface.

I was curious to see if Canva could be a valuable tool for me, so I decided to try out their Pro version to see if it would be worth upgrading from the free version. Here’s what I found..

The Pros:

Canva Pro is great for those who are looking for more design options and templates. With over 60,000 templates available, there’s definitely something for everyone. The templates are also easily customizable, so you can quickly create a unique design that fits your brand.

Another great feature of Canva Pro is the ability to upload your own fonts and logos. This is super helpful if you have a specific font that you want to use for your brand or if you want to use a logo that you created yourself. Overall, Canva Pro gives you a lot more control over the look and feel of your designs.

PRO TIP: Canva Pro is not required to sell templates. However, if you wish to sell templates created with Canva Pro, you will need to purchase a separate license from Canva Pro.

The Cons:

One downside of Canva Pro is that it can be a bit pricey. If you’re someone who only occasionally needs to create designs, then the monthly subscription fee might not be worth it. However, if you find yourself using Canva frequently, then the subscription fee could definitely be worth it.

Another potential downside is that some of the features that are available in the free version are not available in the Pro version. For example, with the free version you can’t create animated graphics or use some of the more advanced design features. However, if you don’t need those features, then this probably won’t be an issue for you.

Conclusion:
So, do you need Canva Pro to sell templates? Ultimately, it depends on how often you’ll be using Canva and what features you need access to.

If you only need to use Canva occasionally or if you don’t need access to certain features (like animated graphics), then the free version might suffice. However, if you find yourself using Canva frequently or if you need access to all of the design features, then upgrading to Canva Pro could definitely be worth it.
