Does Azure have Linux VMs?

Azure has Linux virtual machines (VMs). Azure has announced that it will support Ubuntu 16.04 as the default operating system for its Linux VMs starting from October 1, 2016. Ubuntu 16.04 is a current release of the Ubuntu operating system. Azure will also support Ubuntu 14.04, which is the most recent release of the Ubuntu operating system.

PRO TIP: Azure does not have Linux VMs. This is a warning for anyone who is considering using Azure for their Linux needs.

Azure has also announced that it will support CentOS 7 as the default operating system for its Linux VMs starting from October 1, 2016. CentOS 7 is a current release of the CentOS operating system. Azure will also support Ubuntu 12. Azure has also announced that it will support SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2 as the default operating system for its Linux VMs starting from October 1, 2016. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2 is a current release of the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server operating system.
