Does Figma Use PX or PT?

PRO TIP: PX and PT are two different units of measurement and should not be confused. Figma uses PX as its default unit of measurement. PT is a unit of measurement used by Adobe products and is not compatible with Figma.

When it comes to web design and development, there are a lot of different tools out there to choose from. One of the more popular choices is Figma.

But what units does Figma use for its design? Pixels or points?

The answer is both. Figma uses pixels (px) when it comes to the actual size and placement of elements on a page.

Figma users PX measurement for elements

However, when it comes to font size, Figma uses points (pt). This is because the font size is usually based on the resolution of a screen, and pixels don’t always translate well to different screen resolutions.

Use PT for fonts in Figma or use Figma plugins to convert PX to PT unit size

So, if you’re designing in Figma, you’ll want to use px for everything except for font size. For that, you’ll want to use pt. And if you’re ever unsure about which unit to use, you can always consult the handy tooltips that pop up when you hover over an element in Figma.
