Does Shopify Auto Resize Images?

Last updated on January 10, 2023 @ 4:17 pm

Shopify does not auto-resize images. You will need to use an image editing program to resize your images before uploading them to Shopify. For best results, we recommend using an image that is at least 2048 pixels wide and 1536 pixels tall.

If you need to crop or resize your images, we recommend using an online image editor like Canva. Canva is a free online design platform that’s easy to use and has a wide range of tools and features.

PRO TIP: No, Shopify does not automatically resize images. If you upload an image that is too large or too small, it will appear distorted on your website. Make sure to resize your images before uploading them to Shopify.

To crop or resize your images in Canva:

  1. Go to Canva and sign up for a free account.
  2. Click on the “Create a design” button.
  3. In the menu on the left, click on “Uploads.”
  4. Click on the “Upload your own images” button.
  5. Select the image you want to upload from your computer.
  6. Once the image is uploaded, click on it to select it.
  7. In the top menu, click on “Edit.”
  8. Click on the “Crop” button.
  9. Drag the cropping tool to resize or move the area of the image you want to keep.
  10. When you’re happy with the crop, click on the “Apply” button.
