If you live in the United States, Canada, or Europe, you may have to pay taxes on your Shopify purchases. In the US, sales tax is charged on all orders shipping to states where Shopify has a physical presence.

This includes our headquarters in Oregon, as well as our warehouses in Nevada and Pennsylvania. Canadian customers are only charged GST and HST on orders shipping to Canadian provinces where Shopify has a physical presence. In Europe, value-added tax (VAT) is applied to all orders shipping to countries in the European Union (EU).

PRO TIP: If you are selling products through your Shopify store and shipping them to customers, you may be required to charge tax on the shipping fees. This will vary depending on your location and the laws in your jurisdiction. It is advisable to consult with a tax professional to determine if you need to charge tax on shipping.

If you live outside of the US, Canada, or Europe, you will not be charged any taxes on your Shopify purchases.

Conclusion:

Shopify does charge taxes on shipping for customers living in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
