Does Shopify Use HTML?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 4:28 pm

Shopify is a platform for businesses of all sizes to create an online store. It offers users a customizable platform, an easy-to-use checkout process, and a wide range of features.Shopify uses its own language, Liquid, for its templates. Liquid is a open-source template language created by Shopify and written in Ruby.

PRO TIP: Shopify uses a proprietary templating language called Liquid, which is based on HTML. However, Shopify themes can contain snippets of HTML and CSS code. If you are not familiar with Liquid or HTML, we recommend hiring a Shopify Expert to help you with your theme.

While Shopify does use HTML in its platform, it is not required to use HTML in order to create a shop on Shopify. Shopify’s platform is designed to be used by people with little to no coding experience. However, if you are familiar with HTML and CSS, you can make customizations to your shop’s theme by editing the code.

While you don’t need to know HTML to use Shopify, it can be helpful to have some basic knowledge of the language. This can help you when making customizations to your shop’s theme or if you’re troubleshooting errors.
