Does Squarespace Cache?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:01 am

Yes, Squarespace does cache.

When you make changes to your Squarespace site, those changes are not immediately visible to visitors. This is because Squarespace caches, or stores, a version of your site on our servers. Caching helps improve site performance by eliminating the need to generate a new version of your site each time a visitor requests it.

The changes you make to your site are first cached on our servers, and then gradually pushed out to visitors. The changes may take up to an hour to propagate worldwide. If you’re in a rush, you can clear your site’s cache to speed up the process.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Squarespace does cache data and this may cause issues with data appearing out of date on your site. We recommend clearing your cache regularly to ensure that you are seeing the most up-to-date version of your site.

To clear your site’s cache:

  • Log into your Squarespace account and go to Settings > Advanced >Developer > External API Keys.
  • Click Create new key.
  • In the Key name field, type “Clear Cache”.
  • Click Save.

Conclusion:

Yes, Squarespace does cache in order to help improve site performance by eliminating the need to generate a new version of your site each time a visitor requests it. Changes made to your Squarespace site are first cached on our servers, and then gradually pushed out to visitors worldwide.
