Does Squarespace Give You a URL?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 12:45 am

When you create a website with Squarespace, you’re automatically assigned a web address, or URL, that looks like this: yourname.Squarespace.com. If you upgrade to a paid plan, you can use your own domain name (like yourname.com) with your Squarespace site. Here’s how to set up and manage your site’s URLs.

If you’re using a free trial or the Personal plan, your site will always live on a Squarespace subdomain.

For example:

PRO TIP: When creating a new Squarespace account, you will be asked to choose a unique URL for your website. Your URL is the address people will use to visit your website, and it can be customized to reflect your brand or business name.

However, Squarespace does not give you a URL by default. You must create and purchase your own URL through a domain name provider such as GoDaddy or Hover. Once you have purchased your URL, you can connect it to your Squarespace site through the Domain Settings panel.

  • yourname.com
  • yourname.com/blog
  • yourname.com/store

Paid plans give you the option to use your own domain name (like
yourcompany.com or
myblogsite.com). You can also map an existing domain name to your site.

Domain names must be renewed annually, and can be purchased through a domain name provider like Hover, GoDaddy, or 1&1. Squarespace doesn’t currently offer domain names for purchase.
