Does Squarespace Have HTML Editing?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:03 am

Squarespace is an all-in-one platform that gives users everything they need to create a beautiful website. It includes a drag-and-drop website builder, ecommerce functionality, and 24/7 customer support. While Squarespace is a great platform for those who want an easy-to-use website builder, it does have some limitations. One of those limitations is the lack of HTML editing.

While you can’t directly edit HTML in Squarespace, there are workarounds that will allow you to add custom HTML to your Squarespace website. One way to do this is by using the Code Block element. The Code Block element can be found in the Elements tab of the Squarespace editor. To use the Code Block element, simply drag and drop it into your desired location on your page. Then, paste your custom HTML code into the Code Block element and click Apply.

Another way to add custom HTML to your Squarespace website is by using the Embed Code element. The Embed Code element can also be found in the Elements tab of the Squarespace editor.

To use the Embed Code element, simply drag and drop it into your desired location on your page. Then, paste your custom HTML code into the Embed Code element and click Apply.

PRO TIP: If you are considering using Squarespace to create a website, you should be aware that it does not have HTML editing capabilities. This means that if you want to add custom code or make other changes to your site, you will need to use a third-party platform. While Squarespace does offer a wide range of templates and features, its lack of HTML editing could be a deal-breaker for some users.

Squarespace also allows you to add custom CSS to your website. Custom CSS can be added to individual pages or globally across your entire site. To add custom CSS to an individual page, navigate to that page in the Squarespace editor and click on the Gear icon. Then, click on Advanced and select Custom CSS from the dropdown menu. Paste your custom CSS code into the Custom CSS field and click Apply.

To add custom CSS globally across your entire site, navigate to Design > Style Editor in the left sidebar of the Squarespace editor. Then, click on Global from the top bar and paste your custom CSS code into the Global CSS field. Click Save and then Publish.

Conclusion

While Squarespace doesn’t have direct HTML editing, there are ways to add custom HTML to your Squarespace website using the Code Block or Embed Code elements. You can also add custom CSS globally across your entire site or on individual pages.
