Does Weebly Do SSL?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 4:06 pm

Weebly is a website builder and hosting company that allows users to create and design their own websites. The company offers a variety of plans, including a free plan, and users can choose from a variety of templates and designs. Weebly also offers an e-commerce plan for users who want to sell products on their website.

Weebly SSL is available on all paid plans. Free and Starter plans do not include SSL. If you have a Free plan and would like to add SSL, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan. Weebly does not currently offer wildcard SSL certificates.

PRO TIP: Weebly does not currently offer SSL certificates for custom domains. This means that any data transmitted between your site and its visitors is not protected by encryption. If you are accepting sensitive information (like credit card numbers) on your Weebly site, we recommend that you use a third-party payment processor that can provide SSL protection for your transactions.

To add an SSL certificate to your Weebly site, you will need to purchase an SSL certificate from a third-party provider such as Comodo, Symantec, or GoDaddy.

Once you have purchased your SSL certificate, you will need to upload it to your Weebly account and then activate it.

Once your SSL certificate is activated, your website’s URL will automatically change from http:// to https://. All visitors to your website will now be redirected to the secure https:// version of your site. Keep in mind that any links or resources that are not hosted on your Weebly domain (such as images or videos) will not be secure and visitors will see a warning message in their browser if they try to access these resources.

Weebly does support SSL certificates, however it is important to note that only paid plans include this feature. If you have a free plan and wish to add an SSL certificate, you will need to upgrade your account first. Be sure to purchase your certificate from a reputable third-party provider, and then follow the instructions on how to activate it within your Weebly account. Doing so will ensure that all visitors to your site are redirected to the secure https:// version of your site.
