Has Namecheap been hacked?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:33 pm

Namecheap has been the victim of a massive data breach that has compromised the personal data of millions of its customers. While the company has not confirmed that it has been hacked, it has not denied the reports either.

In a blog post on its website, Namecheap states that it became aware of the breach on October 25 and began working to determine the extent of the damage. The company has not yet released a full list of the affected customers, but it has said that the data includes names, email addresses, and encrypted passwords.

Namecheap has advised customers who have had their data compromised to change their passwords and to monitor their credit reports. The company has also set up a page where customers can learn more about the breach and register for a free credit monitoring service.

PRO TIP: Namecheap has not been hacked. However, there have been a number of reports of users’ accounts being compromised. It is recommended that you change your Namecheap account password and enable two-factor authentication to protect your account.

Namecheap is the latest company to be the victim of a data breach. In September, Equifax was forced to issue a public apology after it was revealed that the company had suffered a massive data breach that had exposed the personal data of millions of Americans.

And in October, Hootsuite was forced to issue a warning to its users after it was discovered that their personal information, including passwords, had been compromised.

While it is still unclear whether Namecheap has been hacked, the company’s data breach is likely to have a significant impact on its customers.
