How Do Anchors Work in Wix?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:49 am

Anchors are one of the most basic and essential elements of HTML. They allow you to link to other parts of the same document, or to external sources, and can be used to create bookmark links within long pages. In Wix, anchors are automatically created when you add a link to text or an image.

When you add a link in Wix, an anchor is automatically created. You can see this if you go to the page in the Editor and view the code:

The code for the anchor will look something like this:

The anchor name can be anything you want, but it must be unique on the page. Once you have created an anchor, you can link to it from anywhere else on the page using the # sign followed by the anchor name. For example, if you wanted to link to the “top” anchor from elsewhere on the page, you would use this code:

You can also link to anchors from other pages or websites entirely. To do this, you need to know the full URL of the page containing the anchor.

For example, let’s say that you have a website with two pages, Page 1 and Page 2. On Page 1, you have an anchor called “anchor1”. The full URL for Page 1 would be something like this:

http://example.com/page1.html#anchor1

To link to “anchor1” from Page 2, you would use a code like this:

Link to Anchor 1

Anchors are a very useful tool for navigation, especially on long pages with lots of content. By using anchors, you can give your users an easy way to jump to the section they’re interested in without having to scroll through everything else.
