How Do I Add a Background Overlay in Canva?

There are a few different ways that you can add a background overlay in Canva. One way is to simply click on the “Background” tab in the left sidebar and then click on the “+” icon next to the “Backgrounds” heading.

This will open up a library of backgrounds that you can choose from. Simply click on the background that you want to use and it will be applied to your design.

Another way to add a background overlay is to first upload your own image into the Canva library. To do this, click on the “Uploads” tab in the left sidebar and then click on the “Upload an image” button.

Choose the image that you want to upload and then click on the “Open” button. Once the image is uploaded, you can click and drag it into your design area. To add a background overlay, simply click on the image and then select the “Background” option from the drop-down menu.

If you want to add a color overlay to your background, you can do this by first selecting the “Background” tab in the left sidebar. Then, click on the “+” icon next to the “Backgrounds” heading and select the “Color Overlay” option from the drop-down menu.

This will open up a color picker where you can choose any color that you want. Once you have chosen a color, simply click on the “Apply” button and it will be added to your design.

You can also add text over your background image by selecting the “Text” tab in the left sidebar. Then, click on the “+” icon next to heading and select the text box option from the drop-down menu.

A text box will appear in your design area where you can type in any text that you want. If you want to format your text, you can do this by clicking on tag options at the top of the screen (such as < b > for bold or < u > for underline). You can also change the font, color, and size of your text by using the options in the left sidebar.

Overall, there are many different ways that you can add a background overlay in Canva.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, adding a background overlay in Canva can result in your image being stretched or skewed. Make sure to adjust the size and position of your overlay before adding it to your image.
