Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 7:31 pm

Adding a product recommendation on Shopify is a great way to promote products that are related to what your customers are currently viewing. By adding a product recommendation, you can up-sell, cross-sell, or simply suggest additional products that may be of interest.Product recommendations can be added to any page on your Shopify store, including product pages, collection pages, blog posts, and even your home page.

There are a few different ways that you can add product recommendations to your Shopify store:

1. Add a product recommendation widget

The easiest way to add product recommendations to your store is to use a widget. Shopify has a built-in Product Recommendations widget that can be added to any page. To add the widget to a page:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize

2. In the Sections directory, click Add section

3.

Under “Shopify predesigned sections”, click Product recommendations

4. In the “Configure section”, enter a Section title

5. Under “Choose the location for this section”, select the page where you want the widget to appear from the “Page” drop-down menu

(Optional) Change the settings for the widget.

  • “Show on collection pages”: Choose whether you want the widget to appear on collection pages in addition to product pages.
  • “Collection”: If you’ve chosen to show the widget on collection pages, then use this drop-down menu to choose which collection the widget should appear on.
  • “Sort order”: Use this drop-down menu to choose how you want the products in the widget to be sorted.

6. When you’re finished configuring the settings for the widget, click “Add section”.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about adding a product recommendation on Shopify, be aware that there are some potential risks. First of all, your customers may not appreciate being inundated with product recommendations, and this could lead to them leaving your site. Additionally, if you’re not careful about which products you recommend, you could end up alienating your customer base or even getting sued. So before you add any recommendations, make sure you understand the risks and take steps to minimize them.
