How Do I Add a Search Button in Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:31 am

Adding a search button to your Squarespace website is a great way to help visitors find what they’re looking for. Here’s how to do it:

1. Log into your Squarespace account and go to the page where you want to add the search button.

2. In the page editor, click on the “Add” button and then select “Button” from the drop-down menu.

3. A pop-up window will appear asking you to enter the button text. Type in “Search” or whatever you want the button to say.

4. Next, you’ll need to enter the URL of the page you want the button to link to.

If you’re using Squarespace’s built-in search feature, the URL will be something like this: https://yourdomain.com/?s=searchterm. Replace “yourdomain” with your actual domain name, and “searchterm” with the term you want to search for.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that adding a search button to your Squarespace website may result in unexpected consequences. In particular, your website may become slow and unresponsive, and your search results may be inaccurate. If you experience any of these problems, we recommend that you remove the search button from your website.

5. Once you’ve entered the URL, click on the “OK” button and then save your changes.

That’s all there is to it! Now when someone clicks on your search button, they’ll be taken to a search results page where they can see all of the content that matches their query.
