How Do I Add an MP4 Video to My Shopify Homepage?

Last updated on January 16, 2023 @ 1:01 am

There are two ways that you can add an MP4 video to your Shopify homepage. The first way is to use the built-in video player, and the second way is to use a third-party video player.

The built-in video player is located in the “Media” section of your Shopify admin. Or directly go to your Shopify settings and click the “Files” tab.

Go to Shopify settings and click files

To add a video to your homepage using the built-in video player, simply upload the MP4 file to your Shopify server and then insert the URL into the “Video URL” field. The video will automatically play on your homepage when someone visits your store.

The second way that you can add an MP4 video to your Shopify homepage is by using a third-party video player. There are many different third-party video players available, but we recommend using Vimeo or YouTube.

In the Shopify Admin, go to Online Store>Themes and click the “Customize” editor button for a start.

To add a video to your homepage using Vimeo, simply create an account and upload your MP4 file. Once your video is uploaded, copy the embed code and paste it into the “Embed Code” field in the “Media” section of your Shopify admin.

To add a video to your homepage using YouTube, simply upload your MP4 file to YouTube and then copy the embed code. Paste the embed code into the “Embed Code” field in the “Media” section of your Shopify admin.

PRO TIP: Adding an MP4 video to your Shopify homepage is a great way to showcase your product or service. However, there are some things you need to know before you do so.

Firstly, make sure that the MP4 video is hosted on a secure server. This will ensure that your video is not interrupted or corrupted when people try to view it.

Secondly, make sure that the video is optimized for web viewing. This means that it should be a lower resolution and have a lower bitrate. Otherwise, people may have difficulty loading and watching the video.

Thirdly, consider using an HTML5 video player instead of an MP4 player. HTML5 players are more compatible with a wider range of devices and browsers, and they offer better control over the video playback experience.

Adding an MP4 video to your Shopify homepage is a great way to showcase products or provide customer service information. By using the built-in video player or a third-party video player, you can easily add videos to your Shopify store.
