How Do I Add Cookies to Shopify?

Last updated on January 13, 2023 @ 2:34 pm

Shopify uses cookies to store data about your online activity on our site. This helps us keep your shopping experience secure, fast, and reliable. You can manage your cookie preferences in your Shopify admin.

To add a cookie to your Shopify store:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.
  2. In the Cookie settings section, select Manage cookies.
  3. In the Cookie name field, enter a name for the cookie. This can be anything you want.
  4. In the Domain field, enter the domain for which you want the cookie to be active.

This should be your shop’s domain without the “www” part. For example, if your shop’s domain is “www.example.com”, you would enter “example.com” in this field.

  5. In the Path field, enter the path for which you want the cookie to be active. This should be “/” if you want the cookie to be active for your entire shop.
  6. Click Save.

You can also add cookies to specific pages on your shop using theShopify editor. For more information on how to do this, please see our documentation on Customizing Themes.

If you need any further assistance with adding cookies to your Shopify store, please feel free to contact our Support team.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to add cookies to your Shopify store, be aware that there are some potential risks.

Cookies can potentially track visitor data, which could be used for marketing or advertising purposes. If you are not comfortable with this, then it is best to avoid using cookies on your Shopify store.

In addition, cookies can expire and become outdated, which could cause problems with your store’s functionality. If you do decide to use cookies, be sure to keep an eye on them and update them regularly.
