How Do I Add Styles in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 9:33 pm

There are many ways that you can add styles to your Figma design. You can use the default styles that come with the software, or you can create your own custom styles.

To use the default styles, simply select the text element you want to style and then click on the “Text” tab in the right sidebar. From here, you can choose from a variety of pre-set font sizes, colors, and other options.

If you want more control over your text elements, you can create custom styles. To do this, click on the “+” icon next to the “Style” heading in the right sidebar.

This will open a new window where you can name your style and customize it to your liking. Once you’re happy with your custom style, simply click “Apply” and it will be applied to your selected text element.

PRO TIP: When adding styles in Figma, be sure to select the appropriate layer type (e.g. fill, stroke, text) and make sure the style is applied to the correct layer. Also, be aware that certain styles will override others – for example, a fill color will override a font color.

You can also apply styles to whole objects, not just individual text elements. To do this, select the object you want to style and then click on the “Style” tab in the right sidebar. From here, you can choose from a variety of different options, such as fill color, stroke color, and opacity.

No matter how you choose to style your Figma design, be sure to experiment until you find a look that works for you!
