How Do I Age Someone in Photoshop?

Adding age to a photo is a common request from clients. Whether it’s adding a few wrinkles and some gray hair, or making someone look much older, it’s a effect that can be achieved in Photoshop with a few simple steps.

First, open the photo you want to edit in Photoshop. Then, create a new layer by clicking on the “Create a new layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers palette. Next, select the Brush tool from the Toolbox, and choose a soft-edged brush.

PRO TIP: This Photoshop tutorial will teach you how to age someone in a photo. However, please be warned that this may be considered offensive by some people.

Now, begin painting over the areas you want to age. For wrinkles, paint lines following the direction of the muscle movement. For gray hair, paint over the entire area you want to change.

Once you’re finished painting, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Use a Radius of 2-4 pixels and click “OK.” This will help blend your painted lines and give them a more natural appearance.

Finally, lower the opacity of your new layer until it looks realistic. And that’s it! With just a few simple steps, you can add age to anyone in Photoshop.
