How Do I Cancel an Order on Shopify?

Assuming you would like to know how to cancel an order on Shopify, there are a few ways you can go about doing this.

If you need to cancel an order that has not been shipped out yet, you can easily do so from your Shopify admin. Simply go to the Orders page, find the order you need to cancel, and click the Cancel button. Keep in mind that you can only cancel unfulfilled orders.

If an order has already been shipped out, you will need to contact the customer directly and ask them to return the items they purchased. Once you have received the items back, you can then go into your Shopify admin and refund the customer.

To refund a customer for an already shipped order:

1) From your Shopify admin, go to Orders. 2) Find the order that you want to refund, and then click its number to open the order details page. 3) From the Order details page, click Refund.

4) In the Refund items pop-up modal, select the items that you want to refund and then click Refund items. 5) In the Are you sure? pop-up modal, click Refund $X.XX.

PRO TIP: If you need to cancel an order on Shopify, please contact the shop owner directly. Cancelling an order may result in the shop owner being unable to fulfill the order, and you may not be able to receive a refund.

Simply go to the Orders page, find the order that needs to be cancelled, and click on the Cancel button. Keep in mind that unfulfilled orders are the only type of orders which can be cancelled in this manner.

Once you have received these items back, then you can proceed into your Shopify admin panel and refund the customer from there. In order to refund a customer for an already shipped out order:
From your Shopify admin panel, go to Orders. Find the specific order which needs to be refunded and click on its number in order to open up the Order details page.

Once on this page, look for the Refund button and click on it. After clicking on Refund, a pop-up modal will appear asking which items need refunding- select all of the applicable items and hit Refund items again. Another pop-up modal will appear asking for confirmation of this action- simply click Refund $X.XX in order confirm everything.
