How Do I Change My Client Account to UpWork?

As a freelancer, you have the option to be paid through either a Payoneer or an UpWork account. If you’re not sure which account to choose, please see our guide on how to get started with Payoneer.

Once you’ve decided to be paid through an UpWork account, you’ll need to take a few steps to set things up. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Log into your UpWork account and click on the Settings tab at the top of the page.
  2. Click on the Billing Method tab in the left sidebar.
  3. Click on the “Change” button next to “How would you like to be paid? “
  4. Select the “Get Paid” tab.
  5. Click on the “Add Payment Method” button and select “UpWork Client Account.”
  6. (If you’re using a new email address for your UpWork account, you’ll also need to click on the “Add Email Address” button and enter your new email address. )
  7. (If you’re using a mobile device, you may also need to enter your phone number. )
PRO TIP: If you are thinking about changing your client account to Upwork, there are a few things you should know. First, when you convert your account, all of your current projects will be cancelled and you will no longer have access to them. Second, your account balance will be reset to $0 and you will have to add funds before hiring any freelancers or taking on new projects. Finally, please be aware that once you convert your account, there is no turning back – so make sure that Upwork is the right fit for you before making the switch!
