How Do I Change My Email Template in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:08 pm

If you’re running a WooCommerce store, chances are good that you’re using email to communicate with your customers on a regular basis. Whether you’re sending out order confirmation emails, shipping notifications, or simply keeping in touch with your subscribers, email is a powerful tool for building relationships with your customers.

While the default WooCommerce email templates are functional and basic, they may not be in line with the overall branding of your store. Fortunately, it’s easy to change your WooCommerce email templates to match the look and feel of the rest of your site. In this article, we’ll show you how to change your WooCommerce email template in just a few clicks.

Before You Start

Before you begin this process, it’s important to note that WooCommerce comes with two different types of email templates: “New Order” and “Cancelled Order”.

The New Order template is used for outgoing emails related to new orders placed on your site, while the Cancelled Order template is used for order-related emails that are being sent back to the customer (for example, if an order is cancelled or refunded).

PRO TIP: If you are not comfortable with code, we recommend finding a professional to help you make changes to your WooCommerce email template. Making changes to your email template can be tricky, and if done incorrectly, can break your WooCommerce store.

In most cases, you’ll want to customize both types of templates so that they match the look and feel of your brand. However, depending on your business needs, you may only need to customize one or the other.

How to Change Your WooCommerce Email Template

Step 1: Log into your WordPress dashboard and navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.

Step 2: On the Emails settings page, select the type of email template you want to edit from the drop-down menu at the top of the page. For this example, we’ll be editing the New Order template.
