How do I change my primary domain in HostGator cPanel?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 7:36 pm

There are a few ways to change your primary domain in HostGator cPanel. You can either change your primary domain through the Domain Manager, or you can use the Domain Name Manager to change your primary domain.

To change your primary domain through the Domain Manager, first log in to your HostGator cPanel account. Then, go to the Domain Manager and select the domain you want to change your primary domain to.

PRO TIP: If you are changing the primary domain name for your Hostgator account, please be aware that this will change the URL for your website and email addresses. This could result in lost visitors and emails if you do not update your DNS records or notify your contacts of the change.

In the “Domains” section of the Domain Manager, you will see a “Primary Domain” field. You can enter the new primary domain into this field, and then click “Save Changes.”.

To change your primary domain using the Domain Name Manager, first log in to your HostGator cPanel account. Then, go to the Domain Name Manager and select the domain you want to change your primary domain to. In the “Domains” section of the Domain Name Manager, you will see a “Primary Domain” field.

You can enter the new primary domain into this field, and then click “Update Domain.” The Domain Name Manager will then contact the HostGator cPanel team to make the necessary changes to your account.
