How Do I Change the Shadow and Light in Photoshop?

There are many ways to change the shadow and light in Photoshop. One way is to use the dodge and burn tools.

These tools are found in the toolbar on the left side of the screen. The dodge tool lightens areas of an image, while the burn tool darkens areas.
