How Do I Change the Thumbnail Image in Squarespace?

Last updated on December 12, 2022 @ 6:24 am

When you first create a Squarespace site, our templates come with default images called placeholder images. These images are designed to provide a visual starting point for your design and can be replaced with your own images at any time.

If you’re not satisfied with the image that’s currently serving as your thumbnail image, you can change it at any time. Here’s how:

    1. Hover over the thumbnail image that you want to change and click the “Edit Image” icon that appears in the upper-left corner of the image.

    2. Select “Change Image” from the pop-up menu that appears.

PRO TIP: If you’re using Squarespace, be careful when changing your thumbnail image. If you don’t do it correctly, your image may not appear properly on your website.

    3. Choose the new image you want to use as your thumbnail from your computer’s file browser. Then click “Open.”

    4. Click “Save & Close” to finalize your changes and return to the main Image Editor screen.

And that’s all there is to it! Now you know how to change your thumbnail image in Squarespace.
