How Do I Change the Thumbnail on Canva?

As anyone who’s ever tried to make a YouTube video knows, the thumbnail image is everything. It’s the first thing people see when they come across your video, and it can make or break whether or not they decide to watch.

That’s why it’s so important to make sure your thumbnail image is as eye-catching and engaging as possible. Fortunately, there’s a easy way to change your thumbnail on Canva – and we’re here to show you how.

First, head over to Canva.com and sign in (or create an account if you don’t have one already). Once you’re logged in, click on the “Create a design” button in the top-left corner of the screen.

From there, select “YouTube Thumbnail” from the list of design options. You’ll be taken to a template specifically designed for YouTube thumbnail images.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you can end up with a low-quality thumbnail on your Canva design. To avoid this, make sure to select a high-resolution image and use the “Export as” option to download a copy of your design with the thumbnail included.

Next, upload the image you want to use as your thumbnail by clicking the “Uploads” button in the left-hand sidebar. Once your image is uploaded, you can drag-and-drop it into the template area.

If you want to add text to your thumbnail image, Canva has a wide selection of fonts for you to choose from. To add text, simply click on the “Text” button in the left-hand sidebar and type out your message. Then, use the formatting options to change the font, color, size, and alignment of your text.

Once you’re happy with your design, click on the “Download” button in the top-right corner of the screen and select “JPEG” from the drop-down menu. Your thumbnail image will now be saved as a JPEG file that you can upload to YouTube.

Changing your thumbnail image on Canva is easy and only takes a few minutes – but it can make a big difference in how many people watch your videos. So if you’re not happy with your current thumbnail, give Canva a try and see what you can come up with!
