Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:00 pm

It’s happened to all of us: You’re scrolling through your favorite online store when you see the perfect dress, shoes, or piece of jewelry. But when you click on it, you’re greeted with the dreaded “out of stock” message.

All hope is not lost, though! Here’s how to change WooCommerce out of stock to sold out.

First, log in to your WordPress account and go to the WooCommerce settings tab. From there, select the “Inventory” option from the list on the left-hand side.

Next, find the product that you want to mark as sold out and click on the “Edit” button next to it.

In the product data section, scroll down until you see the “Stock status” drop-down menu. Select “Out of stock” from the menu and then click on the “Update” button at the bottom of the page.

You’ve now successfully changed your product’s stock status from “in stock” to “out of stock”! Keep in mind that you can always change it back by following the same steps and selecting “in stock” instead.

PRO TIP: If you are considering changing the “out of stock” status to “sold out” for WooCommerce, please be aware that this could have negative consequences for your store. First and foremost, customers may become confused and think that your products are no longer available. Additionally, this change could also impact your store’s search engine optimization (SEO), as well as your product’s discoverability on social media platforms.
