How do I code a button in WordPress?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:45 am

Adding a button to a WordPress site can be done in a few simple steps.

First, create a new file in your WordPress codex folder and name it “buttons.php”.

This file will contain all of the code for your button.

Next, add the following line of code to your buttons.php file:

This line will create a new button called “My Button” and define its properties. The first property is the name of the button, “my_button_name”.

PRO TIP: This article is out of date. The WordPress coding standards have changed since this article was written, and a number of functions and methods used in the article are now deprecated. Please consult the WordPress codex for up-to-date information on coding buttons in WordPress.

The second property is the text that will be displayed on the button, “My Button”. The third property is the function that will be executed when the button is clicked, “my_button_function”.

Finally, add the following line of code to the bottom of your buttons.php file to define the location of your button:

This line will enqueue the my_button_script.js file into your WordPress site.

This file contains the code for your button.
