Are you a WooCommerce user? Do you need to know how to collect sales tax on your transactions? If so, read on to find out how to do just that!

Sales tax is a tax levied by the government on the sale of goods and services. In the United States, sales tax is imposed by the state and local governments, not the federal government.

The rate of tax imposed varies from state to state, and even from locality to locality within a state. As a general rule, the tax is imposed on the selling price of the goods or services sold.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about collecting sales tax on WooCommerce, there are a few things you should know. First, sales tax is generally only collected on taxable items, and second, you need to have a sales tax permit in order to collect it.

If you don’t have a sales tax permit, you can still collect sales tax by using a service like TaxJar. However, we recommend that you consult with a tax professional to make sure that you are correctly collecting and remitting sales tax.

In order to collect sales tax on WooCommerce, you will need to install and activate the WooCommerce Tax plugin. Once activated, you will need to configure the plugin settings.

To do this, go to WooCommerce -> Settings -> Taxes. From here, you will need to select your country and state from the dropdown menus, and then enter your tax rate. Once you have done this, click Save Changes.

Now that you have configured the plugin settings, all that is left to do is add your products to WooCommerce and begin collecting sales tax!
