If you want to use a custom domain name for your Wix website, you can connect it to your site by pointing it to Wix’s servers. This process, known as “domain pointing,” allows you to use your own domain name without transferring it away from your current registrar. In this case, we’ll be using GoDaddy as the domain registrar and Wix as the host. Here’s how to do it:
- First, log in to your GoDaddy account and go to the “Domains” section.
- Find the domain you want to use with your Wix website and click on it to access its settings.
- In the domain’s settings, scroll down to the “Additional Settings” section and click on the “Manage DNS” button.
- In the “Manage DNS” page, you’ll see a list of the domain’s current DNS records. To point your domain to Wix, you’ll need to add two new A records:
- One A record with a hostname of “@” and a value of “23.236.62.147”
- Another A record with a hostname of “@” and a value of “23.236.62.147”
- Once you’ve added the A records, click the “Save” button to apply your changes. It may take up to 48 hours for the changes to take effect, but it usually happens much faster.
- Now that your domain is pointing to Wix, you’ll need to connect it to your Wix account. To do this, log in to your Wix account and go to the “Domains” tab in your account settings.
- Click on the “Connect a Domain” button, then enter your domain name in the field provided and click “Next.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection process. This will typically involve changing your domain’s nameservers to Wix’s nameservers, which you can find in your Wix account settings.
- Once you’ve completed the connection process, your GoDaddy domain should be fully connected to your Wix website. You can then use it as the primary domain for your site.
That’s it! With just a few simple steps, you can easily connect your GoDaddy domain to your Wix website via pointing. This allows you to use your own custom domain name without having to transfer it away from your current registrar.
