How Do I Connect My Shopify Catalog to Facebook?

Last updated on January 13, 2023 @ 2:05 am

Shopify is a powerful ecommerce platform that enables entrepreneurs to start their own online stores. One of the great things about Shopify is that it can be easily integrated with many different applications and services, including Facebook. Facebook is one of the most popular social networking platforms in the world, and by connecting your Shopify catalog to Facebook, you can reach a whole new audience of potential customers.

There are two ways to connect your Shopify catalog to Facebook: through the Shopify app store, or by manually adding the Facebook pixel to your Shopify theme.

If you want to connect your Shopify catalog to Facebook through the app store, there are a few different apps that you can choose from. One popular option is SocialShopWave, which allows you to sync your Shopify products with your Facebook page. Another option is QuickShop for Facebook, which also allows you to sync your products with your Facebook page and includes some additional features such as product recommendations and automated marketing campaigns.

If you want to connect your Shopify catalog to Facebook by manually adding the Facebook pixel to your theme, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Log in to your Shopify account and go to Online Store > Themes.
2. Find the theme that you want to edit and click Edit code.
3. In the Layout folder, click on theme.liquid to open it in the code editor.
4. Find the <head> section of the code and paste the following code snippet just below it:

    <script>
      (function() {
        var _fbq = window._fbq || (window._fbq = []);
        if (!_fbq.loaded) {
          var fbds = document.createElement('script');
          fbds.async = true;
          fbds.src = '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbds.js';
          var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
          s.parentNode.insertBefore(fbds, s);
          _fbq.loaded = true;
        }
      })();

      window._fbq = window._fbq || [];
      window._fbq.push(['track', '6020536048602', {'value':'0','currency':'USD'}]);

    </script>

    <noscript><img height="1" width="1" alt="" style="display:none" src="https://www.<p><b>noscript></b> </p>
u/?ev=6020536048602&cd[value]=0&cd[currency]=USD&noscript=1" /></noscript>

5. Save your changes and preview your shop to make sure that everything looks good.

Adding the Facebook pixel to your theme will allow you to track conversions and optimize your ads for more sales, so it’s definitely worth doing if you’re serious about using Facebook to market your business.

6. However, if you’re just getting started with selling on Facebook, using an app from the Shopify app store may be a simpler solution for you.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about connecting your Shopify catalog to Facebook, there are a few things you should know. First, Shopify does not currently support Facebook's Catalog API. This means that if you make any changes to your catalog on Shopify, you will need to manually update your Facebook catalog as well. Additionally, connecting your Shopify catalog to Facebook may result in decreased performance for your shop.
