How Do I Convert Canva to InDesign?

As a graphic designer, you may find yourself working in a variety of different programs. Canva is a great program for creating simple designs, but what if you need to convert your design to InDesign? Here’s a quick guide on how to do just that.

First, open your design in Canva. Then, click on the “Download” button in the top right corner. A pop-up window will appear – select “JPEG” from the drop-down menu and click “Download.”

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Canva and InDesign are two different design programs and cannot be converted from one to the other. If you are hoping to use InDesign features in Canva or vice versa, you will be disappointed.

Now open InDesign and create a new document. Go to File > Place and select your JPEG file. In the Place window, make sure to check the “Create Links” box and click “Place.”

Your image will now appear in your InDesign document. To edit the text, simply double-click on it and type away! You can also format the text by selecting it and using the various options in the Character and Paragraph panels.

When you’re finished, go to File > Export and choose an appropriate file format (such as PDF or EPS). That’s it – you’ve now successfully converted your Canva design to InDesign!
