How Do I Create a Branch in Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 10:06 am

Creating a branch in Figma is a quick and easy way to manage different versions of your design. To create a branch, simply click on the “Create Branch” button in the top-right corner of the screen.

When you create a branch, Figma will create a copy of your design file. You can then make changes to the branch without affecting the master copy of the file. This is useful if you want to experiment with different ideas or try out different versions of your design.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful when creating a branch in Figma, you can easily create a mess that is difficult to clean up. Make sure to keep your work area organized and be aware of where your branches are located.

To switch between branches, simply click on the branch name in the top-left corner of the screen. Figma will automatically save your changes to the branch you’re working on, so you don’t need to worry about losing your work.

To merge a branch back into the master copy, simply click on the “Merge” button in the top-right corner of the screen. Figma will ask you to confirm that you want to merge the branch, and then it will be merged into the master copy.
